The rebel army in Syria aren't just the people that were being attacked with chemical weapons and other types of violence, but also include people from the Syrian army. Those who left came together and formed the Free Syrian Army. They didn't like the idea of using chemical weapons and torture on innocent people, so they went to the rebels to help them out. Col. Abdul Jabbar Akaidi, one of the chief recipients of the limited U.S. aid provided to be one of the oppositions to the civil war. The tactics they like to use in war are guerrilla warfare and surprise attacks. They have been at war with the Syrian regime for 2 ½ years, leaving thousands dead. While more than 200,000 refugees have fled into the counties that border Syria, the violence across the border is still going on. Some countries wanted to help the rebels but it could cause a those countries to get involved in the conflict.The rebels are fighting the Syrian government. Some of the rebels want peace with Bashar al-Assad's regime; while others want it destroyed.
